About Highbury Design...

Highbury Blinds was started on the government Enterprise Allowance Scheme in 1987 by Nicholas Flynn after gaining his experience in the blinds industry from another Nottingham Blinds company.

Nicholas made the blinds in his own shed, whilst his wife made sales & fitting appointments for him. Soon business expanded and the shed was outgrown! Nicholas moved into a factory unit nearby in Basford, Nottingham, where he employed several blind makers, salesmen & fitters whilst he concentrated on developing business further.

In 1998 they moved to larger premises in Arnold, Nottingham. Here they were able to begin making curtains and an experienced curtain maker was hired. Once the curtain side was well established, art and design were introduced and a showroom was built to display different themes like Moroccan, Roman and Art Deco interiors.

Now Highbury Blinds has reached its 20th birthday, Highbury Design has taken over as the main company name as its diversity has proven popular with soft furnishings customers.
