Our timber blinds are made from ‘Obeche’ which is a West African hardwood. It has been used in the making of saunas and boats for many years as it has an excellent ability to withstand humidity and temperature changes. Obeche is almost the lightest weight timber in the world, but strong, stable and resistant to warping.
Obeche is from a sustainable source and Luxmader is part of the Project Plantar, so you are assured that you are buying an environmentally friendly product. Luxmader Timber blinds are hand-made in Valencia, Spain. There are very few suppliers of Luxmader in the UK, as the product is so exclusive. Available in 48 colour varnishes and 4 slat widths.
Most people tend to choose the 50mm slat (2 inches) as they think this is the widest available. Actually, 70mm is the widest in the Luxmader range - but the 70mm is much more popular in Europe than the UK, so you may not have even seen one!
Because the 25mm slat width is so common in DIY stores, this has a positive effect of the popularity of the 'custom made' timber blinds. Many people want a wider choice of slat widths than the high street stores can offer, that's why the Luxmader blind is so sought after by Interior Designers - their clients want to have something different; not what everyone can buy from DIY stores.
